Club Run, 5th March

In showery weather with a strong, cold NNW wind, only three riders left Pretty Corner for the pick up at Aldborough, where there were no more takers. The trio headed west through Little Barningham, Stody, Bale and Hindringham, taking the by-road to the Walsinghams, for a short refreshment break at the Norton tea-rooms.
The decision to head north for a while into the teeth of the wind before turning east proved to be a good one, picking up a bit of wind assistance over the lumpy route home from Warham over Wiveton Downs and Salthouse Heath to Bodham Hill.
Scott and Harvey were joined by Andy, who was visiting from the Nottingham club, VC Bread and Bitter – [wasn’t the Nottingham rider who rode with us not so long back with the same outfit?!]. Andy was a member of North Norfolk Wheelers as a teenager in the 1980s. Since then, he has lived for eight years in Christchurch, N.Z., including during the earthquake of 2011.
Conditions: a bit challenging, but not as bad as forecast.
Mileages: 50-60.
Double-figures Celsius are threatened for next Saturday’s run, via Banningham to Cart Gap.
