Five riders left the pick-up point at Cawston for the Saturday club run to Janey’s Village Cafe at Hethersett, whose utilitarian exterior belies the excellent food, value for money, service and ambience within.
This relatively hilly route was by way of Swannington, Marl Hill, Ringland, Colton, Barford, Wramplingham and High Green to Hethersett. After fixing a puncture a hundred yards from the cafe, the homeward leg went via Marlingford watermill, Telegraph Hill, Lenwade, the Witchinghams, Eastgate and Brampton to the split at White Cross.
Good cycling conditions with plenty of sun and a fresh easterly breeze.
Trevor: still putting in his 200+ miles summer weeks – (but short-changed by a dicky Garmin today).
Ian: Just back from the Isle of Man and taking full advantage of Janey’s special breakfast.
Phil: Still feeling the back on the hills.
Graham: Having a better time than on his last visit, when he punctured twice in a deluge.
PC to PC: 65 miles.
Individual distances varied, up to about 75 miles.
