In the continuing absence of four of the mainstays, the weekend Wheelers were happy to welcome new member, Alban and Kevin, on a visit from Skipton C.C. – (150 members).
The morning route went by way of Itteringham, Corpusty, Odessa, Themelthorpe, Billingford and Worthing to the refreshment stop at the Daisy Tea Room, which in four previous manifestations was Corner’s; Thyme for Tea; the Kingfisher; Inspirations >>> next year, who knows? No matter what the name, this venue always has helpful and friendly staff serving good, inexpensive food in an attractive environment.
The way home took in a lot of roads that were unfamiliar to most North Norfolk Wheelers, zig-zagging – (or is that zag-zigging, Alban?) – north to Old Beetley and East Bilney, before heading back north eastwards via Brisley, Gately, Ryburgh, Wood Norton and the lanes to Corpusty for a two-way split, with three for Aylsham and beyond and the rest heading towards the north coast.
Conditions: a clear, fresh, bright late summer day, but with a fairly heavy ten minute shower around 13.30.
Alban, Harvey, Kevin, Malcolm, Robin and Trevor made up today’s slightly depleted bunch.
PC to PC: 63 miles/ Max: 79 miles.
