Seven Wheelers were joined for the run to the Norton Centre by 2015 and 2016 Cheshire Roads hillclimb champion and 2017 runner-up, Nathan, from Dukinfield CC (Founded 1885: 80 members). Today marked the return of Great Walsingham’s Trevor, who rode to PC to meet us and then with the club run back home to Walsingham. Scott continued his mile-building return to form and looked to be in good shape.
A significant switch in the wind produced North Norfolk’s hottest day for some time, more in line with the much vaunted ‘heatwave’ that has reportedly been sweeping the country. Eight riders left the pick-up point at Erpingham to follow a route through Little Barningham, Edgefield, Briston, Hindolveston, Fulmodeston and the Snorings to the refreshment stop at Little Walsingham. The return trip came by way of the ford, the climbs over to Stiffkey and Cockthorpe and then a very familiar route over Wiveton Downs, Salthouse Heath, Bodham Hill and West Beckham, where the bunch split.
Bunch: Trevor GW; Scott; Nathan; Malcolm; Ian; Harvey; Geoff; David.
Tomorrow (15/7), several of the Saturday club run group are taking part in the Norfolk and Norwich Charity Ride with Maureen Poulter.
PC to PC: 50 miles/ Erpingham to Erpingham: 42 miles/ Max: 75 miles.
