With a couple of Wheelers getting in early with their winter viruses, the group was reduced to the same trio as last week meeting at Pretty Corner to ride by way of Chaucer’s Hill, Wickmere and Calthorpe to pick up one more at Erpingham. The route to Mundesley Corner House then continued via Suffield church, Brick Kiln Lane, Antingham, Southrepps, Northrepps and Gimingham. Malcolm arrived at the cafe straight from home, while Scott departed early to get ready for the match at Carrow Road (finished 2-2). The way back went down to Bacton, Pollard Street and Witton church before turning in the direction of home via Edingthorpe Green, Pigney’s Wood, Swafield, Bradfield, Antingham and Alby Common, where two stopped to feed the chickens before pushing on into the dusk over Alby Hill to Thurgarton and Wickmere and the final split at Wolterton North Lodge.
Conditions: Grey and murky with an invigorating stiff, dry cold wind.
Out today: Brian; Harvey; Malcolm; Robin; Scott.
PC to PC: 56 miles // Max: 64 miles.
The 2019 Cub Runs Quiz was won by Geoff, with 13.5 points. However, there is a suspicion that the victorious contestant hired a research assistant and that the contestant himself did little more than make cups of tea and sharpen pencils, while the research assistant engaged the cryptic questions with critical analytical faculties that had been sharply honed while watching 378 episodes of Columbo.
