Club Ride to Coast Café, Trimingham 28/02/2026

Ride report by Doug H

On what can only be described as a not-very-springlike morning, Mark, Andrew and Chris met at PC and headed off south to pick up Neil, Ian and a just-in-time Doug, who had not been delayed by a puncture but rather by his lack of fitness.
With the peloton formed, we set off through Barningham, Matlaske, Wickmere, Calthorpe, Erpingham, Banningham, across the A149, through Bradfield, Trunch, and through the golf course at Mundesley. We rode through what can only be called a character-building combination of rain and a cold, strong wind, which led us to decide to take a shortcut to lunch — an idea that met with very little objection.

We arrived at the Coast Café in Trimingham House Caravan Park to be greeted by Graham, who was in fine form and had made his way there by bus. Lunch was excellent and, as the heat returned, so the mood of the peloton lifted. Once more, Chris set off early to get more fitness into his legs, but the rest of us felt that leaving it a bit longer might let the rain pass and the wind drop. And to that end, it did — but not by much.

So we said farewell to Graham and set off into the cold north westerly wind. We travelled back via Gimingham to Lower Street, Thorpe Market, across the A140, and just before Hanworth Doug headed back to Cromer, with the peloton carrying on through Aldborough. Neil then headed off home, while the peloton continued up to Plumstead and on to Baconsthorpe, with Ian turning back to High Kelling and Mark and Andrew heading back to PC. And as we returned home, the sun came out. Quite the ride — roll on summer!

PC to PC was 44 miles at an average 14.2 mph
Riders: Chris S, Andrew B, Mark M, Neil Mc, Ian A, Doug H and Graham A at lunch.
