Club Run 28/09/19

Words by Geoff (our leader for the day)

Saturday’s weather of a hard head wind greeted 3 riders at PC. With heads bowed we rode down to the second pick up at Plumstead church where 2 more riders were waiting to join the fray.

From Plumstead we rode down to go past Mannington Hall and then left to ride to Corpusty. Here, we rode right round Horseshoe Lane and then up a hard hill to go towards Briston. Turning left we went down an aptly named Sandy Lane and then onwards to Hindolveston.

After receiving a battering riding to Fulmodesdon, in the ever strengthening head wind things just got harder. We turned left to Stibbard and then across the busy A1067 to go down the hill to Great Ryburgh. At the bottom of the hill we turned right to climb up Burrow Hill which is in fact two hills for the price of one.

Regrouping at the top we then made our way to the Pensthorpe Courtyard Café. Concerns that the Café would be overrun due to the arrival of baby red squirrels and baby Flamingo were dispelled and we were able to consume our food in peace.

Homeward bound was via Fakenham, Hindringham, Sharrington and Hempstead. Rain, forecast for early in the afternoon, caught GP a couple of miles from home.

Many thanks to all the participants for turning up on such a difficult riding day and welcome back to Mark who is riding well and who we hope to see again soon.

PC to PC 50 miles with some posting 60-70.

Robin, Mark, Malcolm, Geoff, Brian.

Editor’s Note

Geoff was the only one to complete the circuit back to PC, Mark having left us at Fakenham and there being a 3 way split at Edgefield with Robin heading towards Aylsham and Brian and Malcolm to Suffield.

Many thanks to Geoff for a good ride out.
